Sicily July 9th, 1943 "Operation Husky"The men of the 504th drop on Sicily. First Allied Troops to land in that Invasion. Winston Churchill remarked of the Invasion, "not the beginning of the end, but the end of the beginning."

Salerno September 13th, 1943The 504th jumped near Paestum. Fifth Army was endangered and the 504th was needed badly. The 504th holds off last German counter offensive. Helps to save beachead. Motto of Strike Hold adopted for action. |

Naples-Foggia October 1, 1943The 504th is 1st Infantry unit to enter Naples. Takes city and garrisons it, then goes on to cross the Volturo and captures Isernia,Colli, Macchia, Fornelli, Cerro and Rochetta. |

Anzio Beachead January 22nd, 1944The 504th fights as a Regimental Combat Team separated from the 82nd. The 504th lands at Red Beach. In months of bitter fighting the Germans come to call them "Devils in Baggy Pants".

Holland September 17th, 1944 "Operation Market Garden"The 504th jumps in daylight; immediately seizing the Grave Bridge and fights its way to the Nijmegen Bridge. Taking it with a heroic assault across the Waal River. Later is involved in action on the "Island". |

Belgium December 17th 1944 Battle of the BulgeThe 504th is moved to area of Cheneux. Blunts SS Panzer Attack wins Presidential Unit Citation first of the battle.

Germany April 6th, 1945The 504th has a major action at Hitdorf. Pushes across Germany liberates Wobblein Concentration camp, pushes Germans to the Elbe and links with Russians |
