My Dad sent me a VERY LARGE document pertaining to the Rodgers line since we got off the boat from Ireland many, many moons ago... Anyhoo..

When it got to the part about Uncle Evans an Aunt Eva, there was the following info about Lloyd...

"Thomas Lloyd Apr 5 1921- Jun 15 1944) never married. He was Killed in WW II and noted in the book Those Devils in Baggy Pants Ch 5 by Ross Carter.(picture in book at the Andalusia Public library) He was a member of the 504th Regiment, 82nd Airborne Div and fought in Sicily; Salerno, Cassino, Anzio Italy and D Day in France. It was reported he killed approx 40 of the enemy at Eglise Ste Mere, France before being killed by a German sniper. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Distinguished Service Cross for his service. (A newspaper report list death on Jun 6 1944, but I believe his grave footstone list death as Jun 15 1944. Also, I understand he receive other awards for his service several years after the War ended.)"

Does anyone know what these other awards are/were? Dave? Would he have been posthumously promoted to Staff Sgt. "years after the war ended"?

This stuff has been very hard for me to come by, I could also use some reference points for details on, or lists of, decorations. If I didn't have the medal case pictures, and the newspaper articles, I wouldn't know much on my grandfather. All of the sights I've been to only have "high-profile" medal winners.
